Stress management will allow people to begin to balance out their life between work, family, relationships, me time and fun. In this article I will go through how to deal with stress management and how it can help a person to really control their lives and be in a healthier place.
Identify
One of the first steps in stress management is for a person to identify the problems that are creating stress in a persons life. For some people it is really easy to identify the source, it could be something like a spouse, money, career, lack of career, sex, weight and many more reasons. However, for some people it can be a lot harder then a person thinks to identify their stress source.
A good way for people to help identify their stress is to really look closely at their hobbies, excuses and attitudes. For instance it is important for a person to stop explaining away their stress. For instance often times people will say that htey work better under stress or that they just have too much to do at the moment, they cannot be bothered by anything else.
Some people will actually define stress as a normal part of their lives and trick themselves into thinking it is okay. For instance many peopel will say that they have high stress lives and that is what they are useful. Attitudes and belief systems like that are extremely detrimental to a person and can lead to always living in a constant world of stress.
Other people will actually blame stress on outside stressors such as people, family, their jobs, lifestyle and events and they will simply accept that. The acceptance of stress is the key indicator that people need to find. When a person finds that they are accepting the stress in their life as being what it is, that is a big problem. Internalizing stress can really affect people in extremely negative ways and it can create health problems and other issues that can end up landing them in really bad places in their lives. For instance, stress leads many people to having breakdowns, depression, being sick, tired, it can lead to more severe problems such as heart attacks and other issues.
Managing Stress
Learning how to manage stress is really important and will help a person to begin living a much more healthy and productive life. It is important for people to learn healthy stress management methods and to actually use them in their lives to help them to de-stress and handle situations better.
One of the tips that a person can look into when doing stress management is to try using a journal. A stress journal can really help a person to identify what is stressing them out as well as. The stress journal is a really great option for both men and women. Even though some men get upset because they feel like it is too much like a diary. However, the stress journal is simply something that a person can document what caused their stress, how they felt, how a person responded and what helped the person to feel better. This will not only get people to think about what there stressors are but it will help them to figure out what actually helps them to alleviate the stress and maybe even how to get rid of it. Yoga and exercising are also really great ways for a person to de-stress and enjoy their life more.
It is important for people to remember four simple rules to follow that will help their lives be much easier:
- Avoid
- Alter
- Adapt
- Accept
It is important for people to try to avoid stressful situations if they can. Obviously if the stressful person is your boss, you really cannot avoid them, but you can do your best to limit your interactions with them. Also if people try to alter what ever is stressing them out it will really help them to not even have to deal with it anymore. For instance, by telling someone no it can really help a person to feel freed from another bad situation and it helps a person to realize that there are more options. Adapting to a situation and trying to find the positive can really help a person to appreciate life and enjoy all the good things that life has to offer. Finally, accepting certain thing that happen in life for what they are can really help to release built up stress and emotions on a particular subject. For instance, if your credit card is maxed out, it is maxed out, what can you do, all you can do is pay it off. Begin to accept certain things for what they are and worked on ways to change things and make it better.
